Tigers down Rebels in final game of 2025
RED DEER – It was certainly not the way the Red Deer Rebels wanted to end 2025 as they were shutout 8-0 by the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers Tuesday night at the Marchant Crane Centrium.
It was a scoreless game through the first 15 minutes before the Tigers scored two goals in less than a minute courtesy of the Ruck twins, Liam shorthanded and Markus even strength, for a 2-0 Medicine Hat lead after the first.
It stayed that way until well into period two when Jonas Woo (power play) and Noah Davidson scored 1:07 apart to make it 4-0.
Kadon McCann (power play) and Kade Stengrim later scored 55 seconds apart to make it 6-0 through 40 minutes.
Misha Volotovskii scored shorthanded midway through the third while Liam Ruck added another power play goal in the game’s final minute.
The mood was noticeably feisty through the first half of the game as things simmered before boiling over in the third as the two teams combined for 185 penalty minutes on the night.
Jordan Switzer earned the shutout victory for Medicine Hat while Matthew Kondro took the loss for Red Deer.
Medicine Hat outshot Red Deer 41-23 and was 3-for-5 on power plays while the Rebels were 0-for-5.
