Rebels select Vlooswyk in round one of 2022 WHL Prospects Draft
With the 17TH overall selection in the first round of the 2022 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft, the Red Deer Rebels have selected defenceman Luke Vlooswyk (’07) from Calgary, Alberta.
The 6’2” blue liner recorded eight goals and 17 assists in 33 games in 2021-22 with the Calgary Bisons U15 AAA of the Alberta Elite Hockey League.
“Luke is a long, athletic, big right-shot defenceman that can skate, and he has what we think is great character. We can visualize him being a captain one day,” says Rebels Associate General Manager Shaun Sutter. “We think the ceiling is quite high for Luke, so we are very excited to select him.”
