Rebels roll past Moose Jaw for third-straight win
RED DEER – The Red Deer Rebels came roaring back to the Marchant Crane Centrium in #CHLJerseyContest threads Saturday night after a two-week B.C. road trip, and they did so with authority as they posted a 5-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Contributions came from all over the line-up. Aleksey Chichkin opened the scoring, Talon Brigley added his own tally, Tyson Yaremko banked the game-winner, and Beckett Hamilton provided insurance. Landon MacSwain shined with a three-point night (1G, 2A), while Matthew Kondro earned his 12th win of the season between the pipes.
Saturday’s match-up carried extra significance as it was the final showdown of the season series against the Warriors. With the victory, Red Deer climbs to within two points of Moose Jaw for 7th in the WHL Eastern Conference.
Stats Story:
Landon MacSwain (RD) – 1 goal, 2 assists
Pavel McKenzie (MJ) – 2 goals
Matthew Kondro (RD) – 28 saves, win
Chase Wutzke (MJ) – 43 saves
How it Happened:
The Rebels got the scoring going early as Nate Yellowaga snuck down low and slipped a cross-slot pass to Aleksey Chichkin, who was ready at the top of the circle to snap it home between the legs of former Rebels netminder Chase Wutzke.
