Rebels rally for overtime victory in Swift Current
SWIFT CURRENT – A character win for the Red Deer Rebels Wednesday night in Swift Current as the Rebels tamed the Broncos in a 4-3 overtime win.
Ty Coupland and Jaxon Fuder both found the back of the net on powerplays, while Owen Shadrick added a crucial goal, and Matthew Gard sealed the victory in overtime.
The Rebels take three points from their Saskatchewan two-game road trip, improving their record to 3-8-0-1.
STATS STORY:
Anthony Wilson (SC): 2 goals
Jaxson Fuder (RD): 1 goal, 1 assist
Peyton Kettles (SC): 1 goal, 1 assist
Keith McInnis (RD): 2 assists
Matthew Gard (RD): 1 goal, game winner
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Anthony Wilson jumped on his own rebound to beat Rebels goaltender Chase Wutzke and give Swift Current the early edge over the Rebels.
The Rebels entered the second period trailing by one, but it didn’t take long for the offense to spark and the goal exchange to begin.
On a two-man advantage, Ty Coupland evened the score with a blast from the face-off dot that found twine behind Broncos netminder Aiden Eskit. Coupland’s goal against his former club was his second in as many games and team leading fifth on the season.

Swift Current regained the lead when Peyton Kettles snapped a wrist shot past Wutzke to make it 2-1, but the Rebels refused to go away.
Once again on the powerplay, Jaxon Fuder blasted a one-timer from the bottom of the circle, set up by a perfect pass from Samuel Drancak, to pull the Rebels even once again.

Swift Current wouldn’t go quietly though, as Wilson notched his second of the night to send it to overtime.
It took just 1:03 into the extra frame for Matthew Gard to seal the deal, ripping the puck past Eskit for his 30th career goal and first-ever overtime winner.
