How it Happened
Max Curran started things off for Edmonton as he blasted a shot from the high slot past Rebels goalie Peyton Shore on an Oil Kings powerplay.
A slick powerplay sequence lit the lamp for the Rebels as Samuel Drancak set up Beckett Hamilton, who fed Ty Coupland at the point. Coupland’s shot found the back of Edmonton’s net past goalie Parker Snell to tie the game 1-1.

The tie would hold for less than a minute as Edmonton reclaimed the lead when Ethan MacKenzie beat Shore while falling to the ice. Edmonton led 2-1 after one.
The second period saw the score open up as Miroslav Holinka weaved his way through traffic for Edmonton’s third goal and Kayden Stroeder capitalized on a 3-on-1 rush to add another.
Red Deer made a late push in the third, with Nate Yellowaga setting up Keith McInnis for his sixth goal of the season.
