Rebels close season with 4-1 loss to Oil Kings
In their final game of the season, the Red Deer Rebels fell 4-1 to the Edmonton Oil Kings at Rogers Place on Sunday, ending a frustrating season on a tough note.
Kalan Lind netted the Rebels’ only goal of the game, finding the back of the net in the second period.
The bright spot on the day came with Red Deer killing off all 11 (!) Edmonton power plays in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Red Deer kept the Oil Kings at bay until Cage Smith buried Joe Iginla’s rebound two minutes and 43 seconds into the second period.
Less than eight minutes later, Blake Fiddler extended Edmonton’s lead with a shorthanded goal on a two-on-one break.
From his knees, Kalan Lind momentarily cut the Oil Kings’ lead, firing a quick shot past Alex Worthington for his 12th goal of the season.

Edmonton responded twice in quick succession, with Ethan MacKenzie and Miroslav Holinka finding the back of the net just 37 seconds apart to make it 4-1.
The third period saw some fisticuffs but no scoring, leaving the final score 4-1.
Chase Wutzke made 34 saves in the loss, while Worthington stopped 25 shots for the Oil Kings.
Red Deer successfully killed off all seven Edmonton power plays but was unable to convert on their own two chances with the man advantage.
