Bears fly, toques soar, Rebels fall to Raiders
RED DEER – The donations flew sky-high in Red Deer on Saturday night, even as the Rebels fell 7-3 to the Prince Albert Raiders in their annual Toque and Teddy Bear Toss at the Marchant Crane Centrium.
Landon MacSwain was the hero who made it rain in support of the Red Deer Christmas Bureau to brighten the holidays for local families.
The Rebels flashed their speed and physicality early, but the depth and stamina of the Raiders gradually took control of the game through the final 40 minutes.
Stats Story
Daxon Rudolph (PA) – 1 goal, 2 assists
Linden Burrett (PA) – 3 assists
Nate Yellowaga (RD) – 1 goal, 1 assist
Matthew Kondro (RD) – 36 saves, 1 assist
How it Happened
Linden Burrett uncorked a heavy shot from the blue line that banked off the shin of Jonah Sivertson and past Rebels goalie Matthew Kondro 3:33 into the game.
The Marchant Crane Centrium came alive soon after when Keith McInnis hammered a drive on Raiders netminder Dimitri Fortin, the puck glancing off Talon Brigley and landing perfectly for MacSwain to shovel into the open net – unleashing a blizzard of toques and teddy bears across the ice with his eighth goal of the season.

Once the ice was cleared, the momentum stayed in Red Deer’s corner as Nate Yellowaga turned on the jets, slicing end-to-end through the Raiders’ defence before ripping home the Rebels’ second of the night in highlight-reel fashion.

The second period tilted in favour of the visitors as Maddix McCagherty buried a high-slot setup from Burrett to tie the game. Ethan Bibeau restored the Raiders’ lead with a crease-front tap-in.
Prince Albert surged ahead further with three-straight power play goals in the third period from Daxon Rudolph, Aiden Oiring and Max Heise.
Matej Mikes answered back late, firing off a sharp release off a feed from Yellowaga.

Owen Corkish would add an empty net tally to close out the scoring.
Despite the final score, Kondro, who turned 18 on Saturday, was a rock in net in turning aside 36 shots, while the Rebels tested Fortin 18 times.
Prince Albert was 3-for-4 on the power play while Red Deer was 1-for-2.
