Raiders Snap Skid with 5-2 Victory

The Raiders got the second half of their season off on the right foot, topping the Blades 5-2 Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre, snapping a season-worst 7-game losing streak in the process.

 

After a scoreless first frame, Reid Gardiner potted a pair of goals at start the middle stanza.

 

Darcy Zaharichuk added to the lead before the Blades got on the board and get back within two.

 

Shane Danyluk regained the 3-goal lead early in the third.

 

Saskatoon didn’t quit, getting back within two, but after pulling the goaltender for the extra attacker, Jayden Hart hit the empty cage to seal with victory for the home side.

 

Raiders netminder Cole Cheveldave stopped 27 of 29 shots faced in the victory.

 

The two teams will renew acquaintances tomorrow night in Saskatoon.
