Johnny Bower Night
Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce that NHL legend and Hockey Hall of Fame member Johnny Bower will return to his hometown of Prince Albert for a Raiders game this season. Bower will be the guest of honour when the Raiders entertain the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday, November 14th at 7:30 PM.
The Raiders, City of Prince Albert, Raider Alumni and Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame have been working closely with Mr.Bower to bring “the China Wall” back to the place where his hockey days began as he was born and raised in Prince Albert. Also on November 14th a special Prince Albert Raider lithograph “Holiday on Ice” will be available through the Canadian Lung Association.
Bower began playing with the Prince Albert Black Hawks in the late 1930’s and 40’s which started a career that included 15 seasons and 552 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs. Bower won the Vezina Trophy twice (1961 and 1965) and was a Stanley Cup Champion four times (1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967) all with the Maple Leafs. He was inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame in 1989.
“The Raiders are delighted Mr.Bower has agreed to come back to PA and be part of a Raider game night”, said Bruce Vance, Director of Marketing. “Johnny Bower is a hockey icon and I know the City of Prince Albert is also delighted he will be coming here in November. We are working on an event in conjunction with the City and others and hope to announce details of that event in the weeks to come.”
