Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League today announced live streaming of WHL games for the 2026-27 season will shift to YouTube, on an interim basis.

The decision to move the livestreaming of WHL games follows uncertainty regarding the future of Victory+, the WHL’s exclusive livestreaming partner since March 2025.

“The WHL’s audience is growing rapidly. We continue to believe that providing easy access to games is of critical value and importance as we look to expand our reach and deliver WHL excitement to our fans,” commented WHL Commissioner Dan Near. “By moving WHL Regular Season games to YouTube on a short-term basis, we are protecting that access for fans to livestream their favourite WHL Club and watch their favourite WHL stars when the 2026-27 season gets underway Friday, September 18.”

Over two playoffs and one regular season livestreaming on Victory+, the WHL achieved great success with millions of viewers tuning in, generating unprecedented exposure and reach for WHL Clubs and players, representing a significant step forward in accessibility for fans. WHL Clubs invested in enhancements to their productions, including additional content, intermission programming, camera angles, and more.

“While we are disappointed to part ways, our time with Victory+ resulted in remarkable growth and exposure for the WHL as a result of the increased accessibility for fans,” Near said. “WHL Clubs pushed forward, investing in their production and exploring new ways to deliver games to fans via our livestreaming product. To this day, we hear accounts from fans who discovered the WHL because of our decision to work alongside Victory+, a company with Western Canadian roots. In today’s changing landscape, accessibility to the product is paramount and we will explore all options to deliver games to WHL fans around the world.”

The WHL remains committed to delivering a premium livestreaming experience for fans. Consistency with game production will be maintained as the WHL enters its next livestreaming chapter.

Raiders Rookies Open Pre-Season with Comeback Win in Saskatoon

With camp officially wrapped up after Monday’s Green vs. White game, the WHL Pre-season officially got underway for the Prince Albert Raiders on Tuesday afternoon.

The Raiders went down the road to take on the Saskatoon Blades in a rookie showcase game with only 15 to 17-year-olds in the lineup. The Blades opened the scoring 4:28 into the game when a Raiders defenceman dropped the puck behind his net for a teammate. The puck was stolen by 2026 15th overall draft pick Teagan Dernisky, who quickly moved the puck to his forehand and fired to get the Blades on top. At the 9:53 mark, Dernisky scored again when he brought the puck into the slot on the rush and fired top corner. Assists went to Christian Lee and Hayden Harvey. Moments later, the Raiders scored right back at the other end, and it started with a big hit at the Raider blue line by camp invitee Parker Gabriel. That turned the puck over for 2026 10th-round pick Brooks Carlson, and he quickly sprung 2025 fifth round pick Louis Judd on a breakaway. Judd fired and scored at the 10:45 mark. The Blades restored their two-goal lead on a 2-on-1 rush where Christian Lee made a diving pass to get around defender for Zane Medin at the back door, and he tipped it in at 13:55. In the final minute of the period, the Raiders scored again. Caleb Mozell, 2026 third round pick and the Raiders top pick of 2026, picked off a pass at the top of the slot, took two steps, then lasered a wrist shot into the net at 19:17. After 1: Raiders 2 - 3 Blades, shots 13-12 Blades It took 30 seconds into the second period before the Blades scored again. Alexander Sharman walked in and goal alone, faked to the forehand, then tucked in the backhand. In the final minutes of the second, the Raiders pulled back to within one. At the 18:23 mark and on the powerplay, American camp invitee John O’Shea picked up the puck from behind his net, made a give-and-go play with 2025 fifth round pick Chayse Fedoriuk at his own blueline, then continued to skate up ice on his own. O’Shea skated to the middle of the slot, then fired and scored. After 2: Raiders 3 - 4 Blades, shots 13-12 Blades, 26-24 Blades overall It took until halfway through the period before the Blades were able to score again. Right at the 10:00 mark, Welsey Truax skated in on the rush and it looked like he was in too tight to score, but he elevated a wrist shot over the pad. Just 18 seconds later, the Raiders got it right back when Caleb Mozell went up ice with Alex Boldt on a 2-on-1. Boldt fed Mozell, and he fired for his second of the game at the 10:18 mark. The Raiders called a timeout with a little over two minutes to go in the game, and a full powerplay to work with. At 18:51, Athens Shingoose took a wrist shot from the left point, that was stopped, but Gavin Hamelin battling for the puck in the slot swatted the rebound home. The Raiders decided to take the win in regulation though at 19:24 when Logan Chang fired a shot from the point, it was deflected by the goaltender into the corner, but John O’Shea swung a backhand pass out front and Alex Boldt tipped in the game winner. FINAL: Raiders 6 - 5 Blades, shots 15-8 Raiders, 41-34 Raiders overall There was still a period of overtime to try out the new overtime rules that prevent teams from bringing the puck outside of the offensive zone. In the overtime frame, Saskatoon scored to end it. The Raiders play their next pre-season game at home on Friday against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Game Day Preview: Pre-Season Game 1 at Saskatoon

The Prince Albert Raiders hit the road to open their 2026 WHL Pre-season schedule this afternoon as they travel down Highway 11 to take on the Saskatoon Blades. Puck drop is at 2p.m. at SaskTel Centre. The Blades will be streaming the game on their YouTube channel. The Raiders rookies will take centre stage for this afternoon's contest, headlined by 2025 first-round pick Athens Shingoose. In total, eight members of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft and eight members of the 2026 draft class will be in the lineup this afternoon. See the roster for this afternoon's game here. The Raiders return to the Art Hauser Centre for their first home pre-season contest on Friday when the Moose Jaw Warriors come to town. Game time is 7 p.m.

Team White Downs Team Green in Annual Green & White Game

Liam Myhre scored twice and Owen Corkish had three points to pace Team White to a 6-5 win over Team Green in the annual Green & White Game on Monday morning at the Art Hauser Centre. Brandon Gorzynski had three assists for Team White as well. Team Green was led offensively by Riley Boychuk, who had two goals and an assist. Benn Harvey and Alisher Sarkenov also had a goal and an assist in the loss. Didn’t see the game in person? Catch a replay of the stream here. Myhre opened the scoring for Team White with 4:31 left in the opening frame. Gorzynski cycled the puck into the corner for the blueliner who one-timed it past Steele Bass. Just before the end of the opening frame, Gorzynski recovered the puck behind the net and fed Carsyn Dyck in the slot and the 20-year-old made no mistake to give Team White a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. Team White capitalized on a strange bounce off a dump in 11 seconds into the second stanza as Corkish was able to tuck it past a sliding Bass to give his side the three-goal lead. Max Malinousky made it a 4-0 game at the 4:27 mark of the second. He grabbed the puck following a turnover at the blueline, cut to the net and lifted a backhander past Bass. Team Green got back into the game with two goals from Boychuk nine seconds apart. He opened the scoring deflecting Sareknov’s shot past Brady Holtvogt at the 6:47 mark. Off the ensuing faceoff, Harvey knocked down a pass along the glass and fed Boychuk in front who redirected into the empty side of the net. Myhre got his second of the contest midway through the period. He worked a give-and-go play with Malaki Martin and fired a shot home from the slot to give Team White the 5-3 lead. Sarkenov got his team back within two less than a minute later. He tipped in Tyler McCracken’s centering pass to make it a 5-3 game heading into the second intermission. In the third, Team Green got it back within one while shorthanded. Evan Smith forced a turnover at the blueline. He found Hubert Clarke with a backhand feed and the defenceman one-timed it past Holtvogt with 12:46 to play. Team White responded three minutes later. Gorzysnki carried the puck into the offensive zone, stopped up, and found a trailing Pherson Loehndorf who was able to glide into his shot and wire one past Bass to put Team White up 6-4. Less than a minute later, Team Green cut into the lead again off the rush. Boychuk fed Harvey streaking down the middle of the zone and the Hlinka Gretzky Cup gold medallist beat Holtvogt to make it a 6-5 game with 9:04 remaining. Team Green pressed for the equalizer in the late stages of the game, but Holtvogt and Team White shut the door for the rest of the game to preserve the win. Holtvogt made 32 saves to pick up the win between the pipes for Team White. Bass stopped 29 shots for Team Green. With Training Camp now in the rearview mirror, the focus shifts to the 2026 WHL Pre-season. The Raiders open the exhibition slate tomorrow afternoon in Saskatoon against the Blades at SaskTel Centre. Puck drop is 2 p.m. The Blades will be streaming the game on their YouTube channel. The Raiders return home to take on the Moose Jaw Warriors at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday, September 4. Team Protas Wins 2026 Parker Kelly Cup

Jonah Sivertson scored a pair of goals as Team Protas won the 2026 Parker Kelly Cup with a 5-2 victory over Team Modano. Rocco Blazevic, Baden Glithero, and Hubert Clarke also scored in the victory for Team Protas. On the other side, Carsyn Dyck and Athens Shingoose were the goal scorers for Team McAmmond. Karson Varty stopped all 13 shots in his half of the game for Team Protas; Steele Bass made four saves in his half of action. For Team McAmmond, Haize Brightnose made 10 saves in his half, while Brady Holtvogt stopped 11 shots. In the Consolation Final, Team Modano picked up their first victory of the tournament by downing Team Hartnell 7-2. Tate Hanson and Evan Smith each had two goals for Team Modano. Pherson Loehndorf, Brendyn Van Oene, and Louis Judd also struck for Team Modano. At the other end, Riley Boychuk scored both goals for Team Hartnell. Team Protas advanced to the Parker Kelly Cup Championship with a 6-5 shootout win over Team Hartnell. Team Protas will meet Team McAmmond in tonight’s championship, who clinched their spot in the final with two wins yesterday.

GAME SUMMARIES

Photo Gallery Jonah Sivertson scored the lone goal in the shootout for Team Protas. He also scored in regulation, along with Darius Hordal, Logan Pickford, Cash Lanigan, and Noah Ulry. Riley Boychuk had a pair of goals for Team Hartnell, while Oskars Luks, Bauer Walter, and Sam Brenner also joined him in the goal column. Steele Bass and Karson Varty combined for 21 saves in the win for Team Protas, with Varty stopping all three shooters in the shootout. Ethan Radke and Evan Wandler stopped a combined 19 shots. In the finale of the round robin, Team McAmmond downed Team Protas 4-3 in a shootout to remain undefeated. Dayson Martin, Rylan Wood, and Carsyn Dyck scored in regulation for Team McAmmond, and Martin scored the winner of the six-round shootout. Team McAmmond won both of their games on Saturday, placing them in top spot of the Parker Kelly Cup standings as the only undefeated team remaining as games got under way at the Prince Albert Raiders Training Camp. Ben Harvey, fresh off a gold medal at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, led all scorers for the day with four goals between the two games. Riley Boychuk, Easton Gonsorowski, Connor Howe, Will Owens, Alisher Sarkenov, and Brendyn Van Oene each had two goals over the course the day’s action.

MORNING SESSION

Photo Gallery The day’s slate of games started with Team McAmmond skating to a 7-3 win over Team Hartnell. Alisher Sarkenov potted two goals for Team McAmmond. Chayse Fedoriuk, Ryan Richter, Malaki Martin, Brady Filmon, and Ben Harvey also scored. Oskars Luks, Kyle Obobaifo, and Will Owens were the goal scorers for Team Hartnell. No shots on goal were counted for this game. Up next was a 5-4 victory in a shootout for Team Protas. Logan Pickford tallied the shootout winner. He also scored once in regulation. Liam Mhyre, Noah Ulry, and Carter Hope also found the back of the net for Team Protas. Easton Gonsorowski had two goals for Team Modano, while Connor Howe and Brendyn Van Oene also scored for their side. Darius Hordal and Parker Gabriel scored the goals for Team Protas. Haize Brightnose and Brady Holtvogt and teamed up to make 25 saves to backstop Team McAmmond to the win. Karson Varty and Steele Bass stopped a combined 24 shots for Team Protas. In the final game of the day, Team Hartnell got their first win of the weekend with a 6-2 victory over Team Modano. Riley Boychuk struck twice for Team Hartnell, while Brandon Gorzynski, Will Owens, Evan Vigier, and Alex Boldt contributed the other goals. Connor Howe and Brendyn Van Oene both had their second goals of the day for Team Modano. Evan Wandler and Ethan Radke made 21 saves as they shared the crease for Team Hartnell. Cash Borowski and Chase Kettles had 31 saves between them for Team Modano.
