Raiders trail series 3-0 against Tigers after 6-1 Game Three loss
The Prince Albert Raiders have their backs against the wall in the second round, as they fell in Game Three to the Medicine Hat Tigers 6-1 on Wednesday night. As a result, Prince Albert is down three games to none in their best of seven series.
The only goal of the period belonged to the Tigers, and it came 58 seconds into the game. After Marcus Pachecho dug up a loose puck along the wall, he gave a backhand pass to Hunter St. Martin in the slot, and he ripped a shot bar down over Max Hildebrand. St. Martin scored his third goal of the playoffs to put Medicine Hat up 1-0 early.
Hildebrand made a pair of big saves later in the period to keep it a one goal game. After Ryder Ritchie dropped a pass to Gavin McKenna, the latter swung the puck across to Oasiz Wiesblatt for a one timer, but Hildebrand stuck the left pad out to make a loud save. Seconds later, the puck came back to Ritchie in the left circle, but he was robbed by Hildebrand with the glove, keeping it a 1-0 game after 20 minutes.
Medicine Hat scored the first three goals of the second period to jump ahead to a 4-0 lead. Mathew Ward scored 1:22 in, while Veeti Vaisanen scored on the powerplay at the 14:04 mark to make it a 3-0 game. Tanner Moldendyk added a goal with 4:41 to go in the frame to give the visitors a 4-0 advantage.
The lone bright spot in the middle frame for the Raiders came with 21 seconds left coming out of the media timeout, as Lukas Dragicevic put the home side on the board. Parked in the slot, the defenceman tipped home a point shot from Daxon Rudolph to score his sixth goal of the postseason. Dragicevic’s marker made it a 4-1 game heading into the third period.
Gavin McKenna scored a Michigan goal early in the third period, while former Raider Ryder Ritchie also found the back of the net, as the Tigers won by a 6-1 final.
The Raiders will look to once again keep their season alive tomorrow night in Game Four. Puck drops at the Art Hauser Centre at 7pm.
