Raiders sign Connor Howe to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement
The Prince Albert Raiders made their third signing of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft class on Thursday, signing second round pick Connor Howe to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
The Prince Albert product served as the captain of the Prince Albert Pirates U15AA club, but only played in 16 games, as an injury forced him to miss a chunk of the season. Still, in those 16 games Howe scored 21 goals and added 22 assists for 43 points.
“I thought it was a pretty good season for us, we had a really good start,” Howe said in an interview after the draft. “The team was good, we had a really good group of guys out there and really good coaching. I had an injury in the middle of the season that set me back for a bit, but when I got back, I thought I was doing really good.
“I think I’m a 200-foot player who likes to play physical. I’m a good, strong skater who has good hockey IQ, and I’ve got a hard, accurate shot.”
Connor’s older brother, Tanner, is the captain of the Regina Pats. His first season of full time eligibility in the WHL will be Tanner’s last, and he shared his emotions on sharing his draft day with his brother.
“It was really cool, especially because he’s been through the draft. He told me what it was like, and just told me ‘you never know when you’re going to get drafted.’ He was so excited for me. It was amazing to share that with him.”
Howe will play for the Prince Albert Mintos next season.
