Raiders select Shingoose with first round pick in WHL Prospects Draft
With the 16th overall pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft Presented by Windsor Plywood, the Prince Albert Raiders are proud to select Athens Shingoose from RHA Winnipeg.
Shingoose, checking in at 5’6, 128lbs heading into the 2024-25 season, electrified the CSSHL with his puck handling and lethal shot. His 31 goals were the fifth most in the league, while his 60 points ranked 16th. He was tied for the league lead in powerplay goals (10), and added 12 powerplay assists.
“We’re ecstatic to add Athens to our group,” Raiders Director of Player Personnel Bruno Zarrillo said. “He’s a player that tries to make something happen every shift. He’s exciting, he’s so strong on his feet, you just can’t knock him off the puck. He is such a competitor. From everyone we talked to around the community, he’s a first class kid and we’re very excited to have him.
“He’s a great teammate and he cares about the game. He’s at the rink asking questions, communicating with his coaches. He’s just a fine young man.”
