Raiders select Latvian defenceman Luks with lone CHL Import Draft pick
The Prince Albert Raiders only made one pick in the 2026 CHL Import Draft on Tuesday morning, selecting Latvian defenceman Oskars Luks.
Standing at 6’5 and weighing 209 lbs, the 17-year-old Luks spent the 2025-26 season in Finland. He played for the Jukurit U18 club, where he scored four goals and added 20 assists in 39 games. He represented Latvia at the 2026 U18 World Hockey Championship, where he recorded a goal and an assist in seven games, going along with a +4 rating. Both of his points came in an 8-1 rout over Norway.
“Oskars is a big, mobile defenceman,” Raiders general manager Curtis Hunt said. “He has great mobility, great reach and attention to detail. We feel he can step right in and support the group we have. We’re excited to see him get to Prince Albert and watch his game grow.”
