Raiders mourn the passing of Bruce Vance
The Prince Albert Raiders are devastated to learn about the passing of Bruce Vance after a tremendous fight against cancer.
Bruce spent 21 years with the Raiders, from 1995 to 2015. He was inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame and the Raiders Wall of Honour.
As a Raider, he was instrumental in bringing many special events to our city. A World Junior pre-tournament game, the ADT Challenge Cup, where Team WHL battled Team Russia. He also started the Special Olympics Breakfasts raising over $100,000.
In 2007 Bruce and his Raiders staff were awarded the Western Hockey League marketing award.
During his personal time, Bruce also gave back to his community in many ways, coaching, managing, and volunteering. In addition to being a former President of the Crescent Heights Community Club, Bruce and his wife Liane held the position of co-managers for the A & W Bears Midget Girls AAA hockey team and Prince Albert minor softball, during which time he was recognized as the 2009 Volunteer of the Year by Softball Saskatchewan.
Bruce left the Raiders in 2015 to join the City of Prince Albert in a new role built for him as the Marketing & Sponsorship Coordinator. He continued working to bring world class events to Prince Albert like the Over 55 games, the World Softball championship tournament.
The Raiders join the entire community of Prince Albert, and every community Bruce impacted in mourning his loss, and send sincere condolences to Liane and the Vance family. He will be missed.
