Raiders lose to Rebels 3-1
For the second time this week, the Prince Albert Raiders fell to the Red Deer Rebels. A 1-0 third period lead disappeared on Prince Albert, as the Rebels scored three times in the final 10 minutes to snatch the win.
Justice Christensen scored 7:49 into the second period on a Raiders powerplay to open the scoring. Taking a pass from Brayden Dube, the Raider captain’s point shot beat all the traffic in front, catching a piece of Matthew Kondro but hitting the back of the net. Christensen’s goal in his hometown was his 15th of the season, as he grabbed the game’s first goal just under the halfway mark of the contest.
The ghosts of Tuesday night came back to haunt the Raiders though, as the Rebels once again scored three goals late in the third period to jump ahead. Beckett Hamilton tied the game on a Rebels powerplay with 7:14 to go, while Owen DeWitt gave Red Deer the lead with 3:23 left in regulation. Matej Mikes scored into an empty net with 41 seconds left, putting the game out of reach as the Rebels won by a 3-1 final.
Prince Albert wraps up their three game road trip tomorrow in Edmonton. Puck drops at 4pm.
