Raiders fall 7-2 at home against Blades
The Prince Albert Raiders couldn’t find much to go their way on Thursday night, as they fell to the Saskatoon Blades 7-2 on Thursday night at the Art Hauser Centre. Seven different Blades scored, while Ryder Ritchie and Brayden Dube had goals for Prince Albert.
The Blades struck first, 6:41 into the first period to open the scoring. Rowan Calvert fired a shot on goal from the left circle, and it hit Hudson Kibblewhite in front. The puck then bounced high in the air and lobbed over Max Hildebrand’s shoulder and into the net for Kibblewhite’s second goal of the season. The weird goal gave Saskatoon a 1-0 lead just past the quarter mark of the first period.
The Raiders responded with the game tying goal on their first powerplay of the game. Jacob Hoffrogge fed a pass to Ryder Ritchie in the right circle, and Ritchie sniped a shot past Austin Elliott. His tenth goal of the season got the Art Hauser Centre rocking, as it evened things up at 1-1. The goal came on Prince Albert’s first shot of the game.
The Blades outshot the Raiders 7-4 in the opening 20 minutes, but both teams entered the second period deadlocked.
Saskatoon took their lead back 4:39 into the second period, as Easton Armstrong beat Hildebrand for his ninth goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game. The Raiders responded less than a minute later, however, as Brayden Dube sniped a shot top corner past Elliott to make it a 2-2 tie with his sixth tally of the campaign.
With 4:22 left in the second period, Lukas Hansen scored for Saskatoon, giving the Blades a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.
The third period was a complete disaster for Prince Albert, as they gave up four goals. Egor Sidorov, Tanner Molendyk, Ben Saunderson, and Brandon Lisowsky all scored for Saskatoon, as they went on to win by a 7-2 final.
The Raiders fall to 9-7-0-1 on the season with the loss, and will be back in action on Saturday night as they host the Prince George Cougars. It’s Prince Albert’s final home game before they embark on their US road trip next week. Puck drops at 7pm.
