Raiders fall 6-1 in Lethbridge
Prince Albert’s first trip to Lethbridge of the season was not a game to remember, as they fell by a 6-1 final on Friday night to their Central Division opponents.
Lethbridge got off to a quick start, scoring 1:57 into the game to open the scoring. Carsen Adair scored his first WHL goal with a shot from near the left circle, beating Max Hildebrand to quickly make it a 1-0 game.
At the 13:38 mark of the first, Brayden Yager gave Lethbridge a 2-0 lead, sniping a shot glove side over Hildebrand to score his 19th goal of the season. After 20 minutes, the Hurricanes would take their two goal lead into the second period.
Kooper Gizowski struck at the 3:08 mark of the second period, although the call on the ice was originally no goal. After his shot was put into the crease, the officials waved off a goal, but a video replay would show that the puck did cross the goal line, as Daxon Rudolph was barely unable to keep it out of the net. Gizowski was credited with his eighth goal of the season to put Prince Albert down 3-0.
The Raiders would get one back with 2:38 left in the middle frame, as Lukas Dragicevic put the visitors on the board. Gaining entry into the offensive zone down the left wall, Dragicevic cut into the slot with a nice move to get around a Hurricane. From there, the defenceman fired a shot five hole past Jackson Unger, scoring his 11th goal of the season. After 40 minutes, the Raiders found themselves trailing 3-1.
Noah Chadwick, Leo Braillard, and Shane Smith added third period goals for Lethbridge, as they cruised to a 6-1 win on home ice.
The Raiders wrap up their three game Alberta road trip on Saturday night in Medicine Hat.
