Macias excited to be back in Prince Albert
It’s been a busy month for Polish forward Krzysztof Macias, travelling around North America. From being at Florida Panthers and Charlotte Checkers camp, the 20-year-old is finally back in Prince Albert, and ready to get back to his scoring ways in green and gold.
“That was a great experience and I got to learn a lot,” Macias said about his time at pro camp. “I saw a lot of great hockey players and I saw how they get ready for practice or for a game. I think it was a huge experience for me and I’m very grateful that I got to be a part of their camp. I learned a lot and I’m going to try to bring all of that back here to Prince Albert.
“The biggest change was that you’re competing against men at these pro camps. There are players that are 24, 25 years old. Those are the men, it’s not junior anymore. I think experience plays a huge role there, guys are aware in every situation, and they know exactly what they want to do. It was huge for me to gain some experience from them, and I was able to learn a lot.”
It was a late night for Macias last night, as he didn’t roll back into Prince Albert until 2am. A few flights and an hour drive from Saskatoon later, he caught up with some sleep before coming back to the rink this morning to catch up and practice with the rest of the team.
“I’m very excited to get back in the lineup here,” he said. “I want to play here, and I want to help the team win more games and make as big of an impact as I can in the lineup. I’m looking forward to my first games back here.”
“It’s going to help me a lot I think,” Macias added about the experience he is bringing back from camp. “I got to play at a high level at AHL practice, which was a huge eye opener. I got to see what kind of players they are looking for there. I think it’s going to help me a lot this year, just having that experience at camp. I’m hoping to have a very strong season, and I’m going to leave it all out there every game and get to that next level.”
