Hildebrand named WHL Goalie of the Week for third time this season
Prince Albert Raiders goaltender Max Hildebrand has been named WHL Goalie of the Week. It’s the third time he has received this honour, tying him with Harrison Meneghin for the most this season.
Hildebrand went a perfect 3-0-0-0 in last week’s play, starting with a 22 save performance in a 3-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Over the weekend, the overager led the Raiders to a pair of massive wins over the Saskatoon Blades. On Friday night, the Martensville, SK product turned aside 35 of 37 shots, as the Raiders beat the Blades 3-2 in overtime at SaskTel Centre. The win moved Prince Albert into a tie for first place in the East Division.
The very next night, Hildebrand was given the nod between the pipes again against Saskatoon, this time at the Art Hauser Centre. With a near sellout crowd of 3,264 fans, the Raiders were crowned East Division Champions, as they won by a final of 4-3. Hildebrand was huge again in the game, stopping 34 of 37 shots for his 33rd win of the season, which is tied for second most in the WHL.
In those three games, Hildebrand turned in a .938 SV%.
With the 2024-25 regular season in the books, Hildebrand led all WHL goalies in games played (55), minutes played (3,181), shots against (1,865), and saves (1,713). His .918 save percentage ranked second highest in the league, but the highest among goalies with higher than 23 starts. He also ranked 10th in GAA (2.87), and finished the season with an impressive 33-16-5-0 record.
The Raiders have home ice advantage in the first round of the 2025 WHL Playoffs Presented by Nutrien. Game One against the Edmonton Oil Kings is on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drops at 7pm, and single game tickets go on sale on Tuesday at 9am.
