SETTING IT UP:
The Raiders (5-8-2-0) wrap up a two game road trip tonight in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. Prince Albert is coming off of a 4-3 shootout win in Regina on Tuesday night. It’s the first time this season that the Raiders have gone to a shootout. Tomas Mrsic scored the lone goal in the penalty shot rounds, while Max Hildebrand stopped all three shooters he faced.
SECOND PERIOD FOCUS:
The second period has been the make or break period for the Raiders this season. They have given up 17 goals in both the first and third periods, but have given up 31 goals in the second period. That middle frame will be important on Saturday night, as they’ll look to subdue a Wheat Kings team that has scored the third fewest goals in the Eastern Conference.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
The Raiders have the best powerplay in the Eastern Conference and the second best in the league, clicking at 28.4%. On the other hand, their penalty kill ranks last in the Conference and second last in the league at 69.5%.
