Game Preview: November 1 vs Moose Jaw
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (9-0-3-0) look to shake off last night’s overtime loss to the Calgary Hitmen tonight as they host the Moose Jaw Warriors (7-7-1-0). Moose Jaw also lost last night, as they fell 5-2 to the Regina Pats. Max Heise and Ty Meunier scored last night for Prince Albert, while Michal Orsulak stopped 21 of 24 shots in the setback.
GAMES TO MAKE UP:
The Raiders have played the least amount of games in the Eastern Conference, and are just one point back of the first place Edmonton Oil Kings. Prince Albert (21 pts) has four games in hand on Edmonton (22 pts), five in hand on the Saskatoon Blades (21 pts), and three in hand on the Medicine Hat Tigers (21 pts). As a result, the Raiders sit in a tie for second in the conference, but own the best winning percentage among all teams at .875. That trails only the Everett Silvertips (.893) for the best percentage in the WHL.
LIGHT ROSTER:
Ben Harvey, Brock Cripps, and head coach Ryan McDonald are off to the U17 World Hockey Challenge in Nova Scotia. Both Canada Red and Canada White play their first games of the tournament on Sunday, November 2nd. Brock Cripps will play for Canada Red, and he’ll have McDonald on his bench as Red’s head coach. Harvey is getting ready to suit up for Canada White, who won the tournament last year.
BOYCHUK’S STREAK:
With an assist on Max Heise’s first period goal last night, Riley Boychuk extended his point streak to 12 games. He now sits second in the league in the longest active point streak category, trailing only Kooper Gizowski (13 games). In 12 games played this season, Boychuk has two goals and 13 assists for 15 points.
UPCOMING MILESTONES:
Justice Christensen-10 goals away from 50
Aiden Oiring: 20 points away from 200
WHL CUP CHAMPIONS:
Raiders prospects Athens Shingoose and Brady Filmon won gold at the 2025 WHL Cup last weekend with Team Manitoba. Prospect Tripp Fischer won bronze with Team Alberta.
UP NEXT:
The longest road trip of the season is next up for the Raiders. They’ll head to Lethbridge for a meeting with the Hurricanes on Wednesday night, and play the rest of their seven game road trip in the United States against the six U.S. Division teams.
