Game Preview: January 17 @ Medicine Hat
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (30-6-4-0) wrap up a short two game road trip tonight in Medicine Hat as they take on the Tigers. The Raiders won 3-1 in Lethbridge last night to extend their winning streak to two games, while the Tigers won their 19th (no, not a typo) straight game last night, beating the Edmonton Oil Kings 7-3.
HEAD TO HEAD:
The Tigers are 2-0 against the Raiders this season. Their first matchup of the year was a narrow 3-2 Tigers win, as they scored the game winning goal in the final minute. The second meeting was a blowout just a few days later, with the Tigers winning by a 7-1 final on home ice. After tonight’s game, the two clubs will face each other one last time in the regular season in one week’s time at the Art Hauser Centre.
RUDOLPH’S INCHING CLOSER TO HISTORY:
With a powerplay goal in Tuesday night’s win over Brandon, Raiders defenceman Daxon Rudolph has gotten closer to two franchise records held by Josh Morrissey. Rudolph is now just ONE powerplay goal back of tying Morrissey for the most in a single season by a Raiders defenceman. Morrissey had 11 in the 2023-24 season; Rudolph has 10. Rudolph is now also nine goals back of tying Morrissey for the most goals by a Raiders defenceman in a single season. Morrissey scored 28 total in 2013-14; Rudolph is at 19 with 29 games left in the season.
UPCOMING MILESTONES:
Justice Christensen: 2 goals away from 50
Brayden Dube: 1 point away from 150
Brandon Gorzynski: 5 points away from 100, 3 games away from 150
UP NEXT:
The Raiders head back home to host the Victoria Royals on Tuesday night. That kicks off a four game in five night stretch for Prince Albert. They’ll head to Moose Jaw on Thursday and Swift Current on Friday. Wrapping up the busy stretch is the aforementioned meeting with the Tigers on Saturday in Prince Albert.
