Game Preview: Game 48 vs Red Deer
SETTING IT UP:
The Raiders welcome the Red Deer Rebels to the Art Hauser Centre for the second time this season tonight, looking to rebound from a 3-2 loss in Saskatoon on Saturday. After taking the first head to head matchup of the season 6-2 in Red Deer back on October 6, the Raiders have dropped their last two games against Red Deer, by a 2-1 final on December 9th on home ice, and again by a 2-1 final in Red Deer on January 20th.
SHORTHANDED? NO PROBLEM:
The Raiders finally scored their first shorthanded goal of the season on Saturday in Saskatoon, becoming the last WHL team to do so this season. Sloan Stanick was the one who got it done, as he capitalized on a breakaway, sniping a shot top corner past Austin Elliott with 3:18 left in the third period. It was Stanick’s 21st goal of the season, as he continues to add onto his team lead in points, as the overage forward has 60 points in 47 regular season games.
STAYING HOT:
Oi Chenier’s powerplay goal in the first period on Friday has added on to the rookie forward’s hot stretch. The goal came on his 17th birthday, and he’s been one of the more consistent scorers as of late, collecting 12 points in his last 14 games.
