Game Preview: Game 24 @ Portland
WEDNESDAY RECAP:
Prince Albert couldn’t quite complete the comeback in Everett on Wednesday night, as they fell 4-3 to the Silvertips. Sloan Stanick was one of the best Raiders on the ice again on this road trip, as he scored twice, and had a handful of shots that were blocked towards the end of the game that would have sent things to overtime. Chase Coward put in a solid performance in goal, stopping 39 of 43 shots on goal, including a 22 shot barrage from Everett in the second period. Coward also notched an assist on Prince Albert’s third goal of the night.
A TOUGH TASK AHEAD:
Prince Albert will have to deal with a very strong Portland Winterhawks team tonight on the road. Portland has been rolling lately, collecting points in five straight games, going 4-0-0-1 in that stretch. They’re tied for second place in the Western Conference behind the Prince George Cougars, but they have the best winning percentage in the WHL with a 12-4-0-0 record. Portland is tied for second place in goals scored in the WHL with 87, and have surrendered the least amount of goals in the league (44). The Winterhawks are also 5-0 on home ice this season, but they’ve been on the road for a long time. October 18 was their last home game, when they beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 11-1. They will return to home ice tonight after nine straight games on the road which saw them go 5-3-0-1.

Prince Albert will return home in eight days’ time to take on the Moose Jaw Warriors at the Art Hauser Centre, where Dan Hodgson’s number 16 will be lifted to the rafters.
