Game Preview: February 5 @ Calgary
SETTING IT UP:
Prince Albert (27-15-3-1) kicks off a three game Alberta road trip tonight in Calgary where they take on the Hitmen (30-13-3-2). The Raiders only had one game on the weekend, where they extended their point streak to nine games with a 5-2 win over the Wenatchee Wild. The Hitmen had their six game win streak come to an end after a 4-3 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sunday, but they have points in seven of their last eight games.
LEAGUE AWARDS:
Two Raiders were named winners of WHL awards this week. Max Hildebrand was named Goalie of the Week after a pair of 31 save performances in 5-2 wins against the Regina Pats and Wenatchee Wild. Meanwhile rookie defenceman Daxon Rudolph was named the WHL’s Rookie of the Month. January was kind to Rudolph, as he recorded 15 points, while at one time holding a 12 game point streak.
TOP OF THE DIVISION:
First place in the East Division feels good. The Raiders hold a two point lead over the Saskatoon Blades for the top spot. As a result, the Raiders sit in second place in the Eastern Conference (first place in each division is seeded one and two).
APPROACHING MILESTONES:
Oli Chenier: One games away from 100.
Niall Crocker: Four points away from 150.
Aiden Oiring: Five points away from 150.
