Game Preview: February 28 vs Prince George
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (44-8-5-1) host their final BC Division opponent of the season tonight at the Art Hauser Centre, as the Prince George Cougars (36-21-2-0) come to town. The Raiders fell last night 3-2 in a shootout to the Penticton Vees, with the shootout lasting six rounds. The Cougars, meanwhile, shutout the Saskatoon Blades 4-0 last night, and are on their final stop through the East Division on their road swing. Prince George is 4-1-0-0 on the trip so far, with their lone loss coming in Regina on Wednesday. Prince Albert enters tonight with points in five straight games.
ORSULAK SHINES IN SHOOTOUT DEFEAT:
Michal Orsulak was the backbone of the Raiders on Friday night. The Euro netminder did everything he could to give his club a chance to win against the Vees, stopping 40 of 42 shots, and five of six shooters in the shootout. Orsulak owns a 21-4-3-1 record this season, a 2.34 GAA, and a .903 save percentage.
GORZYNSKI FINDING STRIDE:
It’s been a nice little stretch for Raiders forward Brandon Gorzynski. He enters tonight on a five game point streak, with nine points (3G-6A) in those contests. The Dallas Stars draft pick now leads the team in scoring after picking up a pair of assists last night, as he has 66 points on the campaign. After being acquired earlier this season from the Calgary Hitmen, Gorzynski has 37 points (14G-23A) in 28 games as a Raider.
100 FOR McCAGHERTY:
Raiders forward Maddix McCagherty notched his 100th career WHL point last Saturday against Swift Current, scoring the opening goal of the contest. In his career, the Kelowna, BC product has 39 goals and 61 assists in 183 games.
UPCOMING MILESTONES:
Brandon Gorzynski: 2 goals away from 50
