Game Preview: February 27 vs Penticton
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (44-8-5-0) play the Penticton Vees (37-13-4-4) for the first time EVER tonight! The Raiders have won their last four straight, most recently a 4-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday night. The Vees are 2-2-0-0 so far on their East Division road swing, with their most recent contest resulting in a 5-3 setback on Wednesday in Saskatoon.
DIVISION CLINCHED:
With Saturday night’s win over the Broncos, the Raiders clinched the East Division title for the second straight season. This time around, it didn’t take until the final game of the regular season, as it did in 2024-25. Prince Albert still has 11 games left on their schedule, and every game will matter, as they lead the Medicine Hat Tigers by just five points for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
RAIDERS SCORING RACE:
The race for the Raiders scoring lead appears like it will come right down to the wire. Brandon Gorzynski and Aiden Oiring are tied for the team lead in points with 64, but Daxon Rudolph is right behind them with 63.
HEISE FACES FORMER TEAM:
Max Heise will be facing the Penticton Vees for the first time since wearing their sweater. He spent two seasons as a Vee in the BCHL prior to joining the Raiders, where he scored 33 goals and added 26 assists.
100 FOR McCAGHERTY:
Raiders forward Maddix McCagherty notched his 100th career WHL point on Saturday against Swift Current, scoring the opening goal of the contest. In his career, the Kelowna, BC product has 39 goals and 61 assists in 183 games.
UPCOMING MILESTONES:
Brandon Gorzynski: 2 goals away from 50
UP NEXT:
The Raiders welcome the Prince George Cougars to town tomorrow night, as they’ll play their final BC Division opponent. After that, Prince Albert will wrap up a four game homestand on Tuesday night against the Red Deer Rebels, before embarking on a three game Alberta road trip next weekend.
