Game Preview: February 17 @ Moose Jaw
SETTING IT UP:
Prince Albert (30-18-3-1) continues their four games in five nights stretch this afternoon in Moose Jaw for some family day hockey against the Warriors (11-37-4-2). The Raiders picked up wins in both of their weekend games, 6-1 over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, and 4-2 against the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday. The Warriors, meanwhile, have lost seven straight games, and became the first team to be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this season.
FIRST TO 30:
After Saturday’s win, the Raiders became the first East Division team to reach the 30 win mark. The division is a crowded one entering today’s game, with the Raiders only up by one point on both the Brandon Wheat Kings and Saskatoon Blades. Brandon and Saskatoon play against each other today at 4pm at SaskTel Centre.
OIRING HITS 150:
With an assist on Brayden Dube’s powerplay goal on Saturday night, Aiden Oiring picked up his 150th WHL point. In 183 WHL games, the Calgary, AB product has 54 goals and 96 assists. With 21 goals this season, Oiring tied his career best of 21 goals from all of last year, while his 48 assists shattered his previous career high of 29 set last year.
FAMILIAR FACES:
Today’s game against Moose Jaw marks the first time a few players will play against their old squad since a trade earlier this year. Krzysztof Macias and Luke Moroz will face the Raiders for the first time since the deal that brought Rilen Kovacevic over from the Warriors on January 7. Likewise, Kovacevic gets his first look at his former team for the first time.
