Game Preview: February 1 @ Saskatoon
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (36-7-4-0) seek revenge tonight in Saskatoon as they battle the Blades (25-19-3-1) at SaskTel Centre. Saskatoon shutout Prince Albert last night 4-0 at the Art Hauser Centre, bringing an end to the Raiders’ eight game win streak. It’s the fifth of eight regular season meetings between the highway 11 rivals, with the Raiders owning a 2-1-1-0 record so far this season.
WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Raiders forward Brandon Gorzynski has been named Tempo WHL Player of the Week, fuelled by Co-op. The Dallas Stars prospect netted four goals (including one game-winner) and three assists for seven points and a +7 rating as the Eastern Conference-leading Raiders went 4-0-0-0 on the week. Prince Albert now has back to back Player of the Week winners, as Daxon Rudolph was given the same honour last week.
FIRST IN THE CHL:
The Raiders were named the #1 team in the Canadian Hockey League this week. It’s the first time Prince Albert has been ranked #1. This comes off the heels of their eight game win streak, which included a 5-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers last Saturday.
UPCOMING MILESTONES:
Justice Christensen: 1 goals away from 50
Daxon Rudolph: 5 points away from 100
Maddix McCagherty: 5 points away from 100
Aiden Oiring: 4 games away from 250
UP NEXT:
The Raiders begin a four game homestand on Wednesday night as they host the Calgary Hitmen. They will also host the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Brandon Wheat Kings, and Regina Pats.
