Game Preview: December 14 @ Saskatoon
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (21-4-4-0) wrap up their second straight three in three weekend today as they pay a visit to Saskatoon to take on the Blades (17-13-2-0). Prince Albert and Saskatoon have won both of their games so far this weekend, with the Raiders beating the Broncos 7-4 and the Hurricanes 5-1. The Blades beat the Hurricanes 8-3 on Friday and the Warriors 3-2 last night. The Raiders are on a four game winning streak while the Blades are winners of their last three. The teams are separated by 10 points in the standings, with Prince Albert sitting first in the East Divison, and the Blades second.
TEDDY BEAR GOAL SCORER:
Aiden Oiring scored the 2025 teddy bear toss goal last night at the Art Hauser Centre. He took a gorgeous cross ice pass from Brayden Dube and tapped home his first of two goals on the night.
WORLD JUNIORS REPRESENT:
Alisher Sarkenov is still gone representing Kazakhstan at the Division 1, Group A World Juniors.
Matyas Man and Michal Orsulak were named to Czechia’s national team camp, and are away from the team as they are in Minnesota.
BASS SHUTS THE DOOR:
In two WHL starts, Raiders netminder Steele Bass has two WHL wins. After giving up an early goal in the first period to the Hurricanes, he bounced back nicely, stopping 18 of 19 shots in the game, and earning third star honours as a result.
ROSTER CHANGES:
Earlier this week, the Raiders recalled Bass from the SJHL’s Battleford North Stars. This came as a result of Orsulak being named to Czechia’s world junior camp roster.
Forward Kyle Obobaifo has been called up to the Raiders as well.
UPCOMING MILESTONES:
Justice Christensen: 8 goals away from 50
Aiden Oiring: 2 points away from 200
UP NEXT:
The Raiders will travel to Regina to take on the Pats on Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre. They return home for their final game before the Christmas break on Friday night as they host the Kelowna Rockets.
