Game Day: September 21 @ Moose Jaw
SETTING IT UP:
The Raiders play their first road game of the 2024-24 season, as they visit the Moose Jaw Warriors tonight. Prince Albert fell in their home opener 3-2 in overtime to the Regina Pats last night at the Art Hauser Centre. The Warriors also dropped their season opener, falling 5-2 in Brandon.
FIRST OF MANY:
Daxon Rudolph made himself known in his very first WHL regular season game, scoring a goal in his debut. With two minutes left in the third period last night, Rudolph sniped a shot shortside past Regina netminder Kelton Pyne, which would send the game to overtime.
WHO TO WATCH:
Along with Rudolph, there are four other 16-year-olds on the team looking to score their first WHL goals. Riley Boychuk had a great chance to do that last night with a shot from the slot, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Jonah Sivertson, who had five goals in the preseason will be another young gun to keep an eye on. Ty Meunier and Benett Kelly also fit right in on Friday, getting ice time with the veterans and generating scoring chances.
GONE CAMPING:
Four Raiders will be away from the team to start the season. Krzysztof Macias (Charlotte Checkers), Norwin Panocha (Buffalo Sabres), Lukas Dragicevic (Seattle Kraken), and Tomas Mrsic (St. Louis Blues) are all attending their respective pro team’s camp. Niall Crocker was with the Ottawa Senators for their prospects camp, but returned to Prince Albert earlier this week.
