Former Raider Kosior has committed to Omaha
The Prince Albert Raiders are proud to share that former defenceman Landon Kosior has committed to the NCAA’s Omaha Mavericks.
Kosior spent his entire four year WHL career as a Raider. He was a veteran of 213 games, including playing all 68 regular season games in 2021-22. The Regina, SK product scored 44 goals and tallied 91 assists for 135 points. He led all Raiders defencemen in scoring in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. In his final season as a Raider in 2022-23, Kosior was named both Prince Albert’s Most Valuable Defenceman and Most Valuable Player.
Post-Raider career
Following his WHL tenure, Kosior played 19 games with the ECHL’s Iowa Heartlanders. He scored two goals and added 11 assists in those games. In the same season, Kosior decided to leave the team and come back to Saskatchewan where he joined the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. He scored four goals and had five assists in 11 games with the team, and also added three assists in three playoff games.
In 2024-25, Kosior returned to the Huskies for another season. In 28 games, the blueliner scored four times and recorded 21 assists. Playing in six playoff contests, he scored three times and had two assists. The Huskies captured the Canada West Championship, defeating the Mount Royal Cougars in the final. On the Cougars team that Kosior beat were former Raider teammates Spencer Moe and Remy Aquilon. The series went the distance in the best of three final, where the Huskies won Game One by a 6-3 final. Mount Royal took Game Two in overtime 2-1. In Game Three, Kosior assisted on the first goal of the game, which stood as the game winner, as the Huskies won 3-0.
To the natty
Following the win, U of S advanced to the national stage at the U SPORTS Championship. They knocked off Queen’s Gaels in the quarterfinal, but fell to the Concordia Stingers in the semis. That sent the Huskies to the bronze medal game, where they beat TMU Bold 4-1, giving Kosior bronze in his first full season with the Huskies. Kosior had two points in the game, one of which was the game winning goal in the second period. His other point was an assist on the insurance marker in the third period, which gave the Huskies a two goal lead at the time.
With his commitment to Omaha, Kosior becomes the fourth Raider to commit to the Mavericks. He joins Justice Christensen, Aiden Oiring, and Ty Meunier.
