2025 U.S. Priority Draft Recap
The Prince Albert Raiders made two selection in the 2025 U.S. Priority Draft Presented by Windsor Plywood on Thursday. With their first round pick, 22nd overall, the Raiders went down to Texas to select forward Gavin Hamelin from the Dallas Stars Elite 14U.
In the AAA ranks, Hamelin went on a tear in 59 regular season games, scoring 35 goals and adding 53 assists to total 88 points. He ranked 28th in the country in points, putting together a 1.49 PPG average.
In the second round, 25th overall, the Raiders made their pick out of Minnesota, selecting defenceman Mason Schemenauer.
In 17 regular season games with the Minnesota Lakers (MNHP 14U), the rearguard scored five goals and tallied 11 assists for 16 points.
The WHL Prospects Draft Presented by Windsor Plywood resumes today at noon starting with round two. The Raiders hold the 16th pick in the second round. They selected forward Athens Shingoose with the 16th overall pick last night.
