He will join the team for the 2026-27 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are pleased to have Parker make the decision to sign with us; adding another young dynamic defenseman is exciting for our organization as we continue to add key building blocks to our future,\u201d said Vees head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deraney will join the Vees from Fox Motors 15U AAA in Grand Rapids, MI where he has 23 points in 14 games this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We\u2019re excited to officially sign Parker and have him as part of our future,\u201d said Vees director of scouting Adam Sergerie. \u201cParker is a very intelligent, two-way, transitional defenseman who logs heavy minutes for a strong Fox Motors team. He\u2019s positionally sound in his own zone and uses his stick exceptionally well to kill plays. Offensively, he reads the ice with his head up, can move pucks efficiently using his feet, or connecting on clean tape-to-tape passes. He split last year between the Kodiaks and Langley Rivermen of the BCHL and had a combined 13 points in 40 games.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023-24 with the Sicamous Eagles (KIJHL) DeWitt racked up 50 points in 44 games. In 12 games so far this season, Schimnowski has racked up 27 total points on 10 goals and 17 assists.<\/p>\n<p>In October, Schimnowski was part of team Manitoba at the <a href=\"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl-winterhawks\/article\/winterhawks-prospects-schimonowski-and-toyne-capture-whl-cup\/\">2025 WHL Cup<\/a> in Red Deer, Alberta. He scored two goals in the championship game, en route to a 6-1 win over British Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re thrilled to welcome Crewe Schimnowski to the Winterhawks,\u201d Winterhawks Director of Player Personnel Matt Davidson said. \u201cCrewe is a proven leader who sets the tone on and off the ice. Fans should get ready to see Crewe make an impact in Portland\u2014this is a player who knows how to deliver when it matters most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schimnowski was selected 66th overall in the third round of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft by Portland.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Crewe has a solid body frame that goes strong to the net. He will join the team for the 2026-27 season however, he is listed as an Affiliate Player for this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Smith will join the Vees from the Janesville Jets in the North American Hockey League where he sports a 5-3-0 record to go along with a 2.39 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cKaenan is someone we targeted in the WHL expansion draft that would help solidify our goaltending in the future,\u201d said Vees head coach and general manager Fred Harbinson. \u201cHis size and athleticism gives him a strong presence in the net that will be beneficial against WHL shooters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Duluth, MN native is a 2008 born goaltender standing at 6\u20192\u201d and just over 200LBS.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prior to joining the Jets this season, Smith has spent time in the USHL as well as with the USNTDP. Following his AAA season, he was taken by the Victoria Royals with a third-round pick in the WHL Prospects Draft this past spring, and was acquired by Wenatchee in a trade with the Royals in September. He also represented the province of Manitoba in last month\u2019s WHL Cup in Alberta, registering three assists while leading his home province to a gold-medal finish. We look forward to his continued development and contributions to our organization here in Vancouver in the coming years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/player\/964393\/oliver-bryks\"><b>CLICK FOR BRYKS\u2019 ELITE PROSPECTS PROFILE<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bryks played last season for the U18 AAA Edmonton Jr. Oilers in the Alberta Elite Hockey League, where he posted a .916 save percentage, 2.63 goals-against average and 10-5-3 record in 21 appearances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 6-foot-3 netminder made one preseason appearance for the Giants, stopping 23 of 24 shots in 27 minutes of action on Sept. 3 against Kamloops. He is suiting up this season for Delta Hockey Academy\u2019s U18 Prep team, where he has posted a 3-1-0 record, 3.14 G.A.A. and .878 SV% thus far.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In his WHL draft year in 2023-24, Bryks helped backstop Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) to a U15 Prep Championship in the CSSHL, after posting an 11-2 regular season record and 2-0 postseason record.
