Saskatoon, Sask. – The Saskatoon Blades are thrilled to announce the signing of 2009-born defenceman Julian Revel to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement.
The Burnaby, BC product was drafted by the Blades in the third round (66th overall) of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
“Julian is a player that projects as a high upside true two-way defender,” said Blades director of scouting Dan Tencer, “He plays the game with pace and a high compete level and has all the tools to make a positive impact in every zone.”
The 5-foot-11 blueliner netted six goals and 19 assists in 26 games with Burnaby Winter Club U15 Prep of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). The 15-year-old, left-shot defender tacked on 16 penalty minutes in the regular season as well. Revel brought his edge into the postseason with 14 penalty minutes in three games and one goal. In five games at the John Reid Bantam tournament, Revel assisted on six goals.
“We were especially impressed by his intelligence and poise. He’s a skilled player, but it’s his ability to process the game quickly and calmly in all situations that we think will allow him to control the game from the back end at our level. He’s also got excellent leadership qualities, is a tremendous teammate, and displays every day a true determination and willingness to be elite.”
The Blades are happy to welcome the Revel family to the organization and look forward to working with Julian as he continues his hockey journey.
