PREVIEW: Pats conclude busy stretch in Prince Albert Monday
The Regina Pats (31-24-5-1) are on the road Monday to play their seventh game in 11 days against the Prince Albert Raiders (23-24-9-2). Puck drop is at 4 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre. The Pats hosted the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday afternoon, winning a 2nd straight game over their division rivals 4-2. The Raiders were in Brandon on Saturday and fell 4-3. The Lead Up: Pats complete weekend sweep of Moose Jaw Sunday
The Regina Pats got a goal and two assists from Cale Fleury to get by the Moose Jaw Warriors 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre. The Pats trailed 1-0 after one but came back with two in the second to lead 2-1. Emil Oksanen batted in a rebound for his 15th and then Sam Steel tucked home a goal of the year candidate for his 23rd. Moose Jaw got it back with 16 seconds left in the second and it was 2-2 heading to the final period. In the third, Cale Fleury got a seeing-eye shot to go past Brody Willms from the right point for his 11th and the Pats led 3-2. Two minutes later, Matt Bradley finished off a pretty passing play with Emil Oksanen and Josh Mahura for his 34th to make it 4-2 and that was the final score.
Head to Head
Tonight is the seventh of eight meetings between the Pats and Raiders, Regina is 6-0-0-0 in the season series. The Pats are led by Jake Leschyshyn and Matt Bradley who have eight points against Prince Albert. Cameron Hebig has eight points against the Raiders as well, four of them as a member of the Pats. The Raiders Jordy Stallard has seven points against Regina while Curtis Miske has five and Regan Nagy and Brayden Pachal have four points.
Oksanen Heating Up
Pats forward Emil Oksanen is finding his scoring touch since returning from a month long absence with an upper-body injury. In 11 games since his return, the 19-year-old has scored three goals and has eight points to reach 39 points on the season in 47 games. The product of Kirkkonummi, Finland scored two goals and had an assist in the Pats two wins over Moose Jaw this weekend. He is the 193rd ranked player in North American for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
Fleury of Production
Pats defenceman Cale Fleury is coming off his best offensive game with the Pats on Sunday with a goal and two assists against Moose Jaw. The Montreal Canadiens prospect scored the game winning goal in the third period and has two goals and five assists in his last five games. In 40 games since being acquired from Kootenay, Fleury has five goals and 29 assists in 40 games to go along with a plus 19 rating.
