PREVIEW: Pats Battle Blades In Home Opener Preview
Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats host the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 p.m., inside the Brandt Centre for Regina’s final pre-season home contest.
The 2023-24 regular season is around the corner, which means the pre-season is coming to a close. The Pats wrap up exhibition play this Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Prince Albert against the Raiders.
Regina comes into tonight’s action with a 0-1-1 record after dropping their first two pre-season games to the Brandon Wheat Kings over the weekend. The Pats lost their first game 1-0 at home before falling 2-1 in overtime on the road.
Cameron Kuzma has scored Regina’s only pre-season goal thus far, but he has been reassigned. The Pats have trimmed their roster down to 27 heading into Wednesday’s action against the Blades. Goaltending has been a strong suit for the Pats, with Kelton Pyne stopping 28 of 29 on Friday and Ewan Huet making 42 saves on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Saskatoon Blades also come into tonight’s action without a victory, beginning their pre-season 0-2. They dropped their first two games over the pre-season to the Prince Albert Raiders 2-1 and 4-3.

WHO TO WATCH
Expect some veteran players to get an opportunity to play this week for the Pats, as we have yet to see Parker Berge, Layton Feist, Zack Stringer, Tye Spencer and Borya Valis in game action.
Goaltending has been very impressive in the first two games of the pre-season as Pyne and Huet have combined to stop 70 of 73 shots through the first two games.
For the Blades, they are without forwards Egor Sidorov, Brandon Lisowsky, and Jake Chiasson, as well as defencemen Tanner Molendyk and Charlie Wright, and goaltender Austin Elliott, as they are attending NHL Camps.
They do still have Trevor Wong who recorded 86 points (27G-59A) in 68 games during the 2022-23 season.
