Pat Chat September 23rd
The Week That Was
Thursday, September 19th – Swift Current 7 @ Pats 2
The Blue and White got the start they were looking for when Geordie Maguire got the Pats out to a 1-0 lead, but the Broncos came stampeding back. Swift Current opened up a 5-2 lead in the second period and tacked on two more goals in the final frame to spoil the party at the Brandt Centre on Opening Night. Maguire was a bright spot for the Pats, scoring the team’s second goal as well in the loss.
Saturday, September 21st – Pats 2 @ Swift Current 3
It was a strong bounce-back effort for the Blue and White on Saturday. Teagan Sacher was strong between the pipes, making 29 saves, but the Pats couldn’t find a late tying goal. The Broncos scored three powerplay goals including Graham Black’s winner in the third period. Chandler Stephenson had a goal and an assist in the loss.
Quote of the Week
“I just couldn’t believe it, words can’t describe (playing at Capitals camp). Stepping on the ice, being in a drill and passing the puck to (Alexander Ovechkin) and stuff like that. Stuff you dream of as a kid and finally getting to live that dream.” – Chandler Stephenson on his experience in Washington Capitals Training Camp and NHL Pre-Season

The Week Ahead
Wednesday, September 25th – Pats @ Edmonton
The Pats start out their first road trip of the year in Edmonton at Rexall Place. Despite the back-to-back Eastern Conference Champions’ recent success, the Pats have won three of their last four in Edmonton.
Friday, September 27th – Pats @ Red Deer
The Blue and White found themselves in some tight contests against the Rebels last season. This year the Pats look to be on the right side of those close games when they make their first visit to the Enmax Centrium.
Saturday, September 28th – Pats @ Kootenay
Pats goalie Teagan Sacher made his first WHL start in Kootenay, then returned later in the season and posted his first WHL shutout. The Pats defence will be tested by top 2014 NHL Draft prospect Sam Reinhart as he looks to become the First Overall pick in June.
