Four Pats Alumni Ink ECHL Deals
Regina, Sask. – Four Regina Pats alumni inked ECHL deals last week, as Riley Ginnell, Neithan Salame, Cole Dubinsky and Tanner Brown all earned pro contracts.
Ginnell, 20, signed with the Calgary Flames ECHL affiliate, the Rapid City Rush. The Calgary, Alta. product split the 2022-23 season with the Brandon Wheat Kings, Moose Jaw Warriors and Pats, finishing his 20-year-old campaign with 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points in 52 games, with 16 of those points (9G-7A) coming in 36 games with the Pats. The 6-foot-4, 205 lb. winger played in 163 career regular season Western Hockey League contests over a four year career split between the Brandon Wheat Kings, Moose Jaw Warriors and Regina Pats, recording 66 points (31G-35A), including eight points (2G-6A) in 13 career playoff games.
Salame, 22, spent the 2022-23 season with Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, recording 15 points (5G-10A) in 23 games before signing a contract with the Fort Wayne Komets, the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. The Edmonton, Alta. product played four seasons in the Western Hockey League split between the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Regina Pats, totaling 10 goals and 36 assists for 46 points and a +28 plus-minus rating over 185 career games.
Dubinsky, 20, finished the 2022-23 season with the Prince George Cougars after playing parts of six seasons with the Pats from 2017-2022. He’s signed a deal with the Maine Mariners, the Boston Bruins ECHL affiliate. The Ardrossan, Alta. product played in 203 games with the Pats, recording 103 points (38G-65A). Last season, the 5-foot-11, 192 lb. forward totaled 32 points (18G-14A) in 40 games, including seven points (3G-4A) in nine playoff games.
Brown, 20, signs a ECHL contract with the Florida Panthers ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades. The Kelowna, B.C., product played 223 games in the Western Hockey League across parts of six seasons, playing with four different organizations, producing 74 career points (14G-60A) and a +26 plus-minus rating throughout his career. The 5-foot-10, 180 lb. left-shot defenceman put up a career-high 33 points (4G-29A) in 63 games this past season.
