RECAP: Pats Gather A Point For Fourth Straight Game
Brandon, Man. – The Regina Pats gathered a point for a fourth straight contest, falling 5-4 in overtime to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday inside Westoba Place.
The Pats took a 3-1 lead into the third period after goals from Sam Oremba and Braxton Whitehead gave the Pats their largest lead of the game. In the third, the Wheat Kings would score three straight goals to take a 4-3 lead before Tye Spencer tied it in the dying minutes to help the Pats gather at least a point.
Sam Oremba finished the game with two goals for the Pats, with both coming on the power play, while Kelton Pyne made 34 saves.
THEY SAID IT
“I think we did a really good job and competed hard for 60 hard minutes. I think we did a good job for our first game out of the break. It’s disappointing to give up a two goal lead in the third, I thought we were in a good position. I thought we looked a little tired in the third period and I’m not sure if [playing with] five defencemen caught up to us. I think we competed real hard and the only disappointing thing about the game is giving up the two goal lead.” – Regina Pats Head Coach Brad Herauf
