PREVIEW
The Regina Pats wrap up this mini two game road trip in Brandon tonight, playing the Wheat Kings in the fourth of eight meetings this season. The Wheat Kings lead the season series 2-1.
The Pats and Wheat Kings battled on Friday at Westoba Place, with the Pats coming out on top with a 4-3 come-from-behind overtime victory. Tye Spencer (1G-1A) scored his second overtime winner of the season to break the Pats eight game skid. The win would also mark the Pats first comeback win this season, and their first victory when trailing after two.
Regina had two one-goal leads escape them in the first period before trailing after two. Anthony Wilson, Connor Bear and Tanner Howe scored for Regina, while John Babcock chipped in with a pair of assists. Kelton Pyne made 31 saves for his fifth win this season.
The Wheat Kings got goals from Dominik Petr (1G-1A), Marcus Nguyen and Nicolas Johnson in their third straight loss. Carson Bjarnason made 27 saves. The final shots were 34-31 for Brandon. The Pats went 0-2 on their power play while the Wheat Kings finished 1-2 on their man-advantage.
WHO TO WATCH
John Babcock has recorded an assist in four straight games (6A), and currently leads the Pats in assists this season with 11. He also leads the Pats in plus-minus at +7 and is tied with Zackary Shantz for the team lead in shots on goal with 62.
Tye Spencer will also dress in his 200th career WHL game tonight, and is one point shy of 100 in his WHL career.
For the Wheat Kings, Dominik Petr has been playing some impressive hockey as of late with eight points over his last seven games (4G-4A). Nicolas Johnson also returned from injury on Friday and picked up where he left off. He scored a hat-trick versus Regina on September 21 and scored again against the Pats last night.
