PREVIEW
The Regina Pats continue their demanding six-game U.S. road swing tonight in Everett, opening a stretch of three games in four nights as they search for their first victory on the trip.
Regina enters the matchup at 0-3 through the first three games, though each contest has been tightly contested. The Pats have been outscored just 10–5, with all three defeats decided by two goals or fewer. On Saturday in Seattle, the club let a pair of one-goal leads slip away in a 5–3 loss to the Thunderbirds.
Julien Maze led the way offensively with a goal and an assist, while Caden Brown and Keets Fawcett also found the back of the net. The Pats peppered Seattle with 37 shots and went 1-for-5 on the power play, while the penalty kill finished 4-for-5. Goaltender Marek Schlenker was sharp early—turning away 19 of 20 first-period shots—and ended the night with 35 saves on 39 shots.
The Silvertips remain the WHL’s benchmark through the first third of the season. Everett enters tonight with points in four straight (3-0-1) and fresh off a 6-3 victory in Kelowna. With 39 points, they hold the league’s best record, sitting one point ahead of the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Everett’s consistency is well-documented: the franchise has reached the playoffs in every season since joining the league in 2003. Last year, the Silvertips finished 48-12-4-4 for 104 points—marking their 11th 40-win season and the second-highest point total in team history (behind only their 111-point campaign in 2006-07).
Tonight is the lone meeting between Regina and Everett this season. The Pats fell 5-1 to the Silvertips on Oct. 9, 2024, at the Brandt Centre, and dropped their last matchup in Everett 5-3 on March 3, 2024.
All-time, Regina is 10-10-0-0-1 against Everett—remarkably balanced through two decades of intermittent matchups. The Pats’ last win over the Silvertips came on Jan. 12, 2020 (6-3 in Everett), which also stands as their most recent road victory against a U.S. Division opponent.
WHO TO WATCH
Three current Pats will skate in Everett for the first time since being dealt away. Rylan Pearce, acquired just over a week ago, returns after spending parts of two seasons with the Silvertips. Julien Maze and Caden Brown also make their return to the place they called home before being traded to Regina last November.
Everett features several former Pats who will face Regina for the first time since their departures. Jaxsin Vaughan was dealt to the Silvertips in a swap that sent a first round pick and Caden Brown to Regina. Cole Temple was traded one-for-one for Julien Maze and Zackary Shantz was sent to Everett at last years trade deadline for prospect Shea Rollason and a second round pick.
COMING UP
The Regina Pats play the final two games of their six game U.S. road trip this weekend before heading back to the Queen City. The Pats are back in action on Friday when they take on the Portland Winterhawks. The Pats will end the road trip on Saturday with a battle against the Wenatchee Wild.
