PREVIEW
The Regina Pats will look for redemption tonight in Swift Current as they take on the Broncos in a rematch of opening night, where the Blue Brigade fell 4-3 on September 19.
This is the second of six meetings between the two clubs this season. In their first matchup, the Pats carried much of the play but penalty trouble proved costly, as the Broncos struck three times on the power play. That game also marked Taylor Tabashniuk’s first start in a Pats uniform, where he turned aside 25 shots. Regina’s goals came from Keets Fawcett, Liam Pue, and Caden Brown.
The Pats enter tonight’s contest coming off another narrow 4-3 loss, this time to the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday. Regina erased two separate two-goal deficits and tied the game early in the third period. Cohen Klassen led the way with two assists, while Julien Maze scored for a second straight outing and Ellis Mieyette and Fawcett added tallies of their own. Rookie forward Maddox Schultz also reached a milestone, recording his first WHL point with a primary assist on the tying goal.
Meanwhile, the Swift Current Broncos are 3-1-0 on the season, and are coming off a 7-5 comeback win over the Vancouver Giants on Friday inside the InnovationPlex. Joey Rocha made 26 saves for his third win of the season, and 20-year-old Connor Dale led the way with three points (2G-1A) against his old team.
The Broncos also received multi-goal performances from Hudson Darby and Jace McFaul, as well as three assists from Josh McGregor.
WHO TO WATCH
Cohen Klassen and Julien Maze are off to red-hot starts in the 2025-26 season, sitting tied for the team lead with six points apiece. Klassen picked up two assists on Wednesday, bringing his total to one goal and five helpers through four games. Maze, meanwhile, has found the scoresheet in back-to-back outings, scoring twice and adding four assists over the Pats four games.
