PREVIEW: Pats take on Tigers for final time in 2024-25 season

PREVIEW
The Regina Pats invite the Medicine Hat Tigers to the Brandt Centre for the first time since November 1, while finishing off this five game season series. The Tigers are 4-0 against the Pats this season. Their last meeting was on February 15 at Co-op Place with Regina falling 1-0.
The Pats are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday at home. Max Hildebrand made 24 saves for his third shutout of the season, as the Pats were shutout for the sixth time this year. Ewan Huet got the start in net, allowing two goals on 25 shots. The final shots were 26-24 for the Raiders. Both teams were 0-3 on their power plays.
Meanwhile, the Medicine Hat Tigers had three games in three nights last weekend, grabbing two victories. After falling to the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday (L, 5-3), the Tigers picked up a 5-3 win in Edmonton on Sunday thanks to three third period goals, coming back down 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Gavin McKenna led the way with three points (2G-1A) while Mathew Ward, Hunter St. Martin (1G-1A) and Marcus Pacheco added singles. Harrison Meneghin made 25 saves in the win. The Tigers outshot the Oil Kings 39-28. Medicine Hat was 1-3 on their power play while Edmonton was 2-3 on their power play.
The Tigers are now 6-1-0 in their last seven games, and sit first in the Eastern Conference with 82 points. The Tigers are one point ahead of the Calgary Hitmen.
WHO TO WATCH
Despite being shutout in three of their last four contests, the Pats have received some strong performances in net as of late, as well as defensively. Over their last two games, Kelton Pyne and Ewan Huet have combined to have allowed just three goals in their last 120 minutes. Pyne made 35 saves on Friday in Swift Current while Huet stopped 23 of 25 on Saturday versus Prince Albert.
For the Tigers, they have five players with more than 20 goals this season as well as seven players with more than 40 points. Gavin McKenna is second in the WHL in scoring with 106 points (32G-74A) in 51 games. In addition, Oasiz Wiesblatt has 85 points (28G-57A) in 58 games, which ranks eighth in league scoring. Meanwhile, Hunter St. Martin’s 36 goals ranks tied for sixth in the WHL.
