PREVIEW: Pats Return Home to Host Warriors Wednesday
The Regina Pats (34-6-6-1) return to home ice on Wednesday night to take on the Moose Jaw Warriors (30-13-6-1). Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre. The Pats were last in action on Monday and won their fifth straight game, 2-1 over Saskatoon. The Warriors were last at it on Saturday and lost to the Prince Albert Raiders 5-4. The Pats hold a 2-2-0-0 record against the Warriors heading into tonight’s fifth of eight meetings on the season between the two clubs. The game can be heard on 620 CKRM with Bennett Dunlop Ford Pats Hockey beginning at 6:35 p.m.

Lead Up: Pats Get 5th Straight Win in Saskatoon
The Regina Pats won their fifth consecutive game Monday morning, 2-1 over the Saskatoon Blades. Adam Brooks scored on the powerplay in the first, Dawson Leedahl in the second and Tyler Brown did the rest making 22 saves to lead the Pats to victory. The Pats outshot Saskatoon 27-23, the poweprlay was two for four and the penalty kill went four for five. With the win, the Pats improve to 2-0-1-0 against the Blades and to 34-6-6-1 on the season.
Head to Head
The Pats carry a 2-2-0-0 record against the Warriors into tonight’s contest. The Pats are 1-1-0-0 on home ice in the season series and 1-1-0-0 in Moose Jaw. Regina has scored 17 goals in the four games, the Warriors 17 as well. The Pats have outshot the Warriors 182-125 in the four games. The powerplay is six for 14 and the penalty kill 10 for 17. Sam Steel has scored four goals and has five assists for the Pats against the Warriors this year. Adam Brooks has three goals and eight points while Dawson Leedahl has five. Moose Jaw’s Noah Gregor, Brett Howden and Brayden Burke each have six points against the Pats in the four meetings. Regina enters Wednesday night with an eight point lead on the Warriors for first in the East Division and the Pats hold three games in hand.
Brown is Back
Pats starting netminder Tyler Brown has started two games since returning from a lower body injury. Brown missed five games with the ailment. In the two games since, Brown has gone 2-0-0-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and a 0.964 save percentage in wins over Red Deer and Saskatoon. Brown has jumped into eighth in the WHL in goals against average at 2.84 and his save percentage is ninth at 0.907. The Winnipeg product is tied for fourth with two shutouts.
Prolific Powerplay
The Pats powerplay is on a tear since the Christmas break. In the 16 games the club has played since the holidays, the PP has scored 25 goals on 59 opportunities for a 42.4 per cent success rate. The Regina powerplay was sitting at 29.8 per cent on the season in the team’s first game back from the break. That number has jumped to 33.7 percent in the 16 games since, an increase of 3.9 per cent. Regina leads the WHL in PP percentage and is second in goals with 64 on 190 attempts. The Pats scored 56 powerplay goals all of last season and are already eight goals ahead this year in 25 less games.
