PREVIEW: Pats invite Oil Kings to town for Saturday night tilt
Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats play the second game of this five game homestand tonight at 6pm against the Edmonton Oil Kings. This contest will mark the first of seven games on home ice in the month of October.

PREVIEW
The Regina Pats are coming off a 4-3 overtime win over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday. Both of the Pats victories this season have come in overtime after the club defeated Prince Albert 3-2 in the season opener.
Zackary Shantz (1G-2A) and John Babcock (3A) each had three point games, while Ewan Huet made 30 saves. Tye Spencer scored the overtime winner and Brayden Smith scored his first career WHL goal. The Pats also went 4-5 on their penalty kill and 1-2 on their power play. The final shots were 33-28 for Moose Jaw.
The Pats are now 9-10 on their penalty kill over their last two games. Meanwhile, the power play has now scored in four straight games. The overtime win for Regina marked their sixth straight win when going to extra-time.
The Edmonton Oil Kings are 1-3 to begin their season following a 3-1 loss on Friday to the Brandon Wheat Kings.
The Oil Kings finished the 2024-25 season with a 27-37-3-1 record and 58 points which was 10th in the Eastern Conference. Despite their overall record last season, the Oil Kings finished the season strong, going 6-3 on their last nine games.
In the 2022-23 season, the Oil Kings posted a 10-54-4-0 record, ending with their lowest win total in franchise history. That came after winning the WHL Championship in 2022.
WHO TO WATCH
Zackary Shantz is coming off a career night on Sunday, recording three points (1G-2A) in a 4-3 overtime win over Moose Jaw. Shantz now has six points (3G-3A) in four games this season, and has scored in back-to-back games. Last season, Shantz had 25 points (8G-17A) in 67 games.
Gavin Hodnett scored his second goal of the season on Friday in Brandon and now has six points (2G-4A) in four games this season. Drafted with the 19th pick of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, Hodnett had 70 points (23G-47A) in 61 games.
