WHAT’S HAPPENING
It’s Talk Today! The Regina Pats are proud to partner with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), to raise awareness and support for mental health. Tonight’s game will highlight the importance of mental health, encourage open conversation, and reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues.
CMHA will be will be raffling off a team signed jersey on the West concourse tonight. In addition, the Pats have fun activations planed such as: Brandt Call Your Shot, Grand Prix, a t-shirt gun, kiss cam and much more!
PREVIEW
The Regina Pats wrap up family weekend with a Saturday night contest against the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Pats last played the Wheat Kings on Dec. 27 at Westoba Place, winning 7-3. Regina is 2-2-1 against Brandon this season.
The Pats have dropped their last two games, and coming off their third shutout loss of the season on Friday, falling 3-0 to the Red Deer Rebels.
Rebels 16-year-old Peyton Shore made 18 saves for his first career shutout. The Rebels scored a goal in all three periods. Talan Brigley opened the scoring less than two minutes into the first, then Kalan Lind added an insurance goal in the second period before Derek Thurston put things away with an empty netter late in the third. The shots were 21-18 for the Rebels. Regina was 0-6 on their power play and 4-4 on their penalty kill. Kelton Pyne made 18 saves in the loss.
After going 4-4 on their penalty kill on Friday, the Pats PK has gone a perfect 6-for-6 shorthanded over their last two games. They’ve also killed off 13 of their last 14 while down a man over their last four games (92%).
Meanwhile, the Brandon Wheat Kings are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Warriors had a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes of a play after a three goal first frame. Carter Klippenstein scored in the third to force overtime. Matteo Michels led the way with three points (1G-2A) while Luke Shipley tallied a goal and an assist. Ethan Eskit made 23 saves in the loss. The shots were 45-27 for the Wheat Kings. Brandon was 0-3 on their power play and 1-1 on their penalty kill.
The Wheat Kings are now 4-3-1 over their last eight games.
WHO TO WATCH
Braxton Whitehead has tallied five points (2G-3A) against the Wheat Kings this season. In his career, Whitehead has 19 points (6G-13A) in 23 career games against Brandon. In addition to Whitehead, Cameron Kuzma has had success against the Wheat Kings this season with four points (1G-3A) in the season series.
Matteo Michels leads the season series in scoring with six points (3G-3A) against the Pats this season. Michels picked up a career-high three points (1G-2A) on Friday in Moose Jaw and has 39 points (16G-23A) in 45 games this season. In his career, Michels has 10 points (6G-4A) versus his former team.

The Regina Pats finish their three game homestand on Friday, February 7 against the Wenatchee Wild which marks the return of Tye Spencer to the Brandt Centre. the Pats will then play five straight on the road, starting up on Saturday, February 8 against the Saskatoon Blades.
