The Regina Pats take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the first of four meetings this season. The Pats have dropped their last seven games (0-6-1), while the Hurricanes have won their last two contests.
The Pats are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday inside the Brandt Centre. The Wheat Kings scored two late empty net goals to seal their third straight victory. The Pats got goals from Tye Spencer and Logan Peskett, as well as 36 saves from Kelton Pyne. The final shot total was 41-27 for the Wheat Kings. The Pats went 1-2 on their power play and 4-4 on their penalty kill.
Meanwhile, the Lethbridge Hurricanes are coming off a 7-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Tristen Doyle led the way with four assists while Shane Smith (2G-1A) and Brayden Edwards (2G) tallied a pair of goals. Kooper Gizowski recorded three helpers, Will Sharpe chipped in with two assists and Noah Chadwick finished the night with a multi-point game (1G-1A). Brady Smith got the win, allowing three goals on 28 shots. The final shots were 32-28 in favour of the Hurricanes. Lethbridge was 1-3 on their power play and 2-4 on their penalty kill.
WHO TO WATCH
For the Pats, John Babcock has gathered an assist in back-to-back games (3A) and currently leads the Pats with eight assists in 17 games this season. Elsewhere, Braxton Whitehead has recorded points in back-to-back games (1G-1A).
Brayden Edwards has been red hot for the Hurricanes as of late, riding a three game goal-streak (4G) and an eight game point-streak (6G-7A) heading into today’s play. This season, Edwards has 22 points (9G-13A) in 13 games. Meanwhile, Logan Wormald leads the Hurricanes with 10 goals this season, and has recorded at least a point in six straight games (4G-5A)
