PREVIEW
The Regina Pats wrap up their Thanksgiving weekend with a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Kamloops Blazers at the Brandt Centre. The Pats are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, where Cohen Klassen opened the scoring just 54 seconds into the game before the Giants responded with four unanswered goals. Marek Schlenker made his third straight start, stopping 28 of 31 shots as the Pats were outshot 32-12 and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
Meanwhile, the Blazers continue their six-game Eastern Division road trip, dropping their first two contests, including a 3-0 loss in Saskatoon on Saturday. Kamloops is coming off a challenging 2024-25 season where they finished second-last in the Western Conference with a 24-39-4-1 record and 53 points. It’s been a sharp contrast from their dominant stretch between 2021 and 2023, when they posted back-to-back 48-win seasons and hosted the 2023 Memorial Cup.
This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since November 29, 2024, when the Pats fell 6-0 in Kamloops. The Blazers’ last visit to Regina came on December 8, 2023, when the Pats came away with a 6-4 victory. All-time at home, Regina holds a 10-11-3-2-1 record against Kamloops and is 3-4-1 over their last eight head-to-head matchups.
The Pats will look to bounce back and close out the weekend with a win in front of the home crowd, while the Blazers aim to collect their first victory on their Prairie swing.
COMING UP
The Regina Pats are set to begin a busy stretch of games, starting with their first meeting of the season against the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday, October 17 at the Art Hauser Centre. The Raiders have been one of the league’s hottest teams to start the season with a 6-0-1-0 record, while the Pats will look to get on a roll.
Regina then returns home on Saturday, October 18 for a matchup against the Brandon Wheat Kings (1-4-1-0) at the Brandt Centre, with puck drop set for 6:00 p.m.
